• I’ve recently discovered the hard way (twice through crashes on the pages/tabs!) that WordPress apparently has a limit of about 300 links to a single page. Does that limit also apply to categories? I’m a book reviewer with over 600 reviews, the first paragraphs of which are excerpts. All these are now in a single category called All Authors and Titles, my default category. (They also appear in separate categories in the right-side sidebar, though not as subcategories of the default–All Authors and Titles.) Do I have to worry that I will suddenly get the dreaded blank page for this category because I have too much content on it, as I did, twice, for my pages that listed authors and books as tabs at the top of the page? Thanks VERY much in advance.

  • there is not really a limit for wordpress – there are limits to php memory, database queries, etc. Blank pages are usually indicative of low php memory or php errors.

Thanks very much, Samboll, but I’m not a techie at all, and I really don’t understand your answer. I solved the problem with the pages of 600+ Authors and links crashing, for example, by dividing the page into alphabetized subpages, each with a limited number of links. What I really need to know is whether I need to divide up the entries in the default category so that all the content and links to the full reviews don’t disappear, as it’s my only complete record of what’s on the site. If I have to divide this, it will be VERY time-consuming, and I’d rather not do it if I don’t have to. Thanks very much again.

I don’t think anyone can answer that question for you – it’s up to you to find and know your server limitations.

you can use a caching plugin to help
