Looking forward to making this plugin do what I want! But I need categories.

I’ve checked the appropriate box in Donations > Settings > Display Options, and refreshed permalinks, as instructed in the docs.

But no “categories” submenu appears in the Donations dashboard menu. The right-side metabox does show up on the Add Form page, but there are no categories to select and no way to add new ones.

(By the way, same exact symptoms with tags.)

I’ve disabled all other plugins and changed to Twenty Sixteen theme — no help.

    What the heck?

    Hi there,

This is a known bug that was introduced in version 1.5 which we are actively working to resolve for version 1.6 Here’s a workaround:

    1) Install and Activate WP-Rollback: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rollback
    2) Use it to roll Give back to version 1.4.5
    3) Make sure Categories are enabled, and that you save Permalinks by going to “Settings > Permalinks” and hit Save.
    4) Confirm that Categories are working as expected.
    5) Update to version 1.5.2 and all will continue to work as expected.

Apologies for the hassle, it’s a problem with how the Categories taxonomy is registered. After rolling back up to 1.5.2 you won’t have any problem.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the speedy reply!

I followed your instructions but discovered that not only did the categories submenu not appear, but the All Forms and Add Form submenus completely disappeared too.

Deleted the plugin entirely, re-installed, re-rolled back, same issue.

Should I drop a table from my database?

That’s a first. We’ve had a few users report this and the Rollback solution has always worked. Here’s my next suggestion:

    1) Go to “Donations > Settings” then the Advanced Options tab.
    2) Check the “Delete all data on uninstall”
    3) Uninstall the plugin
    4) Install it from this zip file:
    https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/give.1.4.5.zip
    5) Activate Categories and confirm they work as expected.
    6) Upgrade the plugin via “Dashboard > Updates”

Let me know how it goes.

    Jackpot! That did the trick.

    I’m happy now. 🙂

    Thanks again!

Cool. So sorry about that. Keep us posted on your progress and let us know if you have any other difficulty at all. Thanks!

Hi, I had the same problem. I deleted Give, installed version 1.4.5, made sure categories and tags were enabled, saved permalinks, and then upgraded to 1.5.2. I can create the categories and tags, but the option to use them doesn’t appear under Donations, or anywhere that I can find. Can you please advise? Thank you.
