• If you download this plugin and find any problems with you be sure you won’t get any help from the Yoast team, apparently they only support those that pay for it, even when it is obvious that the glitch is because of something they have done.

  • Um, yeah. It says that right on the info page before you download or install the plugin. Support is not provided for the free plugin, except from some kind souls here or sometimes a Yoast support person as time permits. But not for obvious stuff or custom coding.

They also clearly state bugs which are reproducable as actual bugs should be reporting on the bug track site and not here.

So, perhaps you had the wrong expectation for free software.

@leannewhatever I founded Yoast. Yoast is a 50 person company. 10 of those people are on support. Most of their time is spent on our paid customers, because that’s the only way we can make money and pay the 12 developers who constantly improve this plugin. With over 5 million users, how would you propose we do support for every free user? I’d honestly love to be able to do that… but we can’t…

I seem to remember all I was trying to do was to tell them about a glitch that I found. they weren’t interested. To me that says more. I often pay for plugins, and if I think one is good and I get good service with it, meaning I think they care about their users, then more so. I have no issue with it, but to be told that straight out, they don’t care at all, then no, no money from me, and I have now deleted the plugin from my site.
I am only one person running my business, but I listen to every problem people have it is could customer service, something that seems to have disappeared, I help people, and then in return I hope they will pay me to do more for them.
Anyway mute point now, I don’t use Yoast, never will again, and if people ask me why I will say it is free, but if you ever need help you better be prepared to pay money, I can’t say whether you will still get it.

    Hey @leannewhatever,

I was startled by your feedback, because it’s never our intention to make people feel that their concerns aren’t taken seriously. So, I looked into the communication you had with my team.

What I see is that we informed you that we were unable to find a Yoast SEO Premium license linked to your email address, which is correct if I understand your posts here. We then informed you that we have a whole knowledge base filled with free information, and that you can report bugs on GitHub.

So, instead of telling you that we weren’t interested, we told you where to find help and how to report a bug.

What should we have done differently to prevent you feeling told off? And what can we do now to make you feel more positive about Yoast SEO?

    Thanks,
    Taco
