    There is some small issue with the view role setting. When I set the view role to subscriber, the user notes appears at all user roles (subscriber and above, as is to be expected). However, the same setting for the widget box or list box makes it only show for the subscriber role, but not for above. If I set the user role to anyone, it works as expected though.

    Hey just to follow up with this, the “Any” role is the correct role to use if you want to allow any user to view the widget. When you select a specific role, like subscriber, the widget is displayed only to users who have that particular role. All widgets except for User Notes work this way. User Notes works a bit differently because notes may be specifically written to specific roles, so the widget itself must always be visible (when enabled).
