    Hi,

I’m having some problems with setting up the “cookie” setting of an individual popup.

    1. I have setup a trigger: “Auto Open” because I want the popup to automatically open after a couple of seconds. Which it does great!
    2. I have setup a cookie: “On Popup Close” with an expiry of “1 month”, just for testing purposes. It’s a sitewide cookie and I have generated a cookie key for it.

The specific cookie has been created successfully as I can see in chrome devtools, but on each page load on my site the popup keeps popping up. So the cookie isn’t preventing the trigger.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    Thanks!

  • Same problem. Cookie (1 day) fails to prevent auto-open trigger.

@laurentvd, @tzeldin88 – Sounds like this should help: Using Triggers and Cookies Together.

Basically you need to tell your trigger to look for the correct cookies.

Popups can have multiple triggers & multiple cookies, each can work together or separately from the others.

Hope that helps. Please take a moment to click that it Works and to rate and review the plugin or support.

Please do not use that https://wppopupmaker.com/rate-us link to redirect users to the review. Use this one instead.

    It accomplishes the same thing.

@jan Dembowski – True, but can’t tell how effective that link is ;).

The other link goes the exact same place. Is that against the guidelines? If so I apologize, didn’t realize it violated any policies.

Have been trying to track how successful those requests to review are mainly since I have managed to gain reviews quite quickly for this plugin & planned to share/document my methods & results for other plugin developers to use.

Promise it was all in good faith. Let me know as I use a text expander to insert them and can update it quickly.

@danieliser – Thanks, yes it works. I didn’t notice that the trigger needs to be associated to a cookie.

Side side note (yep, I do that 😉 ):

I’ve added emphasis to the quote.

I know you’re doing this in good faith and I’ve no doubt about that. But don’t track users in the forums that way. You already have a way to gauge feedback from users via the reviews. Tracking the clicks via your redirect URL is not necessary and generally speaking moderators do not like that.

These are support forums and no one should be tracking people’s clicks that way. It’s not explicitly in the Forum Welcome but it really doesn’t need to be IMHO. It already says (essentially) don’t do “Bad Things™” and tracking clicks falls under that.

The plugin guidelines do say that via item 7, third bullet item about tracking and ads.

NOTE! I’m not saying you’re doing that! Honest. 😉 But I hope you get the idea. Don’t use that link, send people directly to your review form instead.
