• Hello there! I’m new here, currently using a wp.com template for my blog. I am going to change over to a .org blog, and I’m wondering if I can make a copy of my current blog so I can get the new one just how I want it while the current blog is still active. Does that make sense?

  • make your install on host for .org
install same theme and plugins as you have at .com
    export .com blog
    admin – tools – export
import this file to .org blog
    admin – tools – import
    should be identical

But I will only have one blog then? Is there a way to copy on export so I will have 2 identical blogs until my .org is ready to publicize?

When you export, it doesn’t delete anything off your existing blog.

I’m trying to do this, but I also want to import my existing theme of the .com blog into my .org site. Currently, if you click ‘blog’ on vikiarias.com you are redirected to an external page, my .com blog.

I want the site to be integrated so when you click ‘blog’ on vikiarias.com you see a totally new template, but it isn’t redirected to an outside site.

I know this could be a case of page template, but can’t figure out how to copy over my exact template and content. Thanks!
