    Hi,
on two of my client’s websites, I keep getting a number of 404 errors. Most often they are links to non-existent themes and plugins. I clean them up every time (create redirections to homepage), but new ones keep appearing almost on a daily basis.
I’ve scanned the site for possible hacking issues, and checked Google Webmaster Tools, but it all seems clean and Webmaster Tools do not show any of those 404’s, I only see them with Ultimate SEO.
Do you have any idea what might be going on here?
    Websites: udink.nl + udinkadvocaten.com
    Thanks.

It could simply be bots fishing for URLs or exploits. You can turn off the types of 404’s in the settings to reflect only those from referrers instead of user agents if you like (that should stop the madness) ;-).

    Hi Jeffrey,
thanks, I’ve adjusted the settings to stop logging 404’s by search engine spiders. Is that what you meant?
