The fact that AO can take up disk space is correct and is in fact, clearly mentioned in the FAQ, including reasons why AO can’t clean up files autonomously and solutions.
The easiest fix would be to turn off “aggregate inline JS” (and optionally the same for inline CSS), but alternative solutions are available (again as described in the FAQ).

I just turned off the aggregate’s option so I hope it’ll be better now 🙂 Sorry, I havn’t read the FAQ (in english, it’s to complicate for me) So it’s my blame 🙂
Just important to know : from OVH, hébergement mutualisé (“shared hosting” ?), it’s not possible to clean the cache (not from FTP, and even not from back office/tools/Automotimize ) It’s 2 days I talk with OVH to find a solution about that (they just told me they will be able to do it today or monday). Meantime, I can’t do anything on my website .. So it’s really essential to be carreful with the disk space with shared hosting.

But weird that you can’t remove those files over FTP. have you tried
mdelete wp-content/cache/autoptimize/js/*
?
regarding AO; it should currently display a notice on the dashboard if size > 0.5Gb and the next version will also send a mail to the admin-mail.
