Google updated their policy and now all map API calls need to include a API key, we did a blog about it: here

Ultimately lots of plugins/themes will suffer this until they are updated to add the API key, we created a plugin that will retroactively add the API key, if you decide to use it and have any problems let me know: https://github.com/AyeCode/google-maps-api-key

Stiofan is probably right here – I hadn’t realised that a key was being enforced for higher-traffic websites (my test sites obviously still presenting the maps without a key).

I shall look into providing a means of specifying a key for your site, alternatively (or perhaps in conjunction) I might look at providing an extension to entirely replace Google maps.

    Thanks Stiofan!

It’s going to be a headache for lots of plugins/themes for the next while. Open Street Maps are pretty good now if you are looking for an alternative.
