  • Hello Everyone,

I am not sure if this is the right place for this question.

I am very new to wordpress, I had a custom design made for a client and I changed the theme name in the style.css wordpress editor and updated it and now it says that the theme selected does not exist. I wanted to change it back but now I can’t.

I was thinking about downloading the style.css to my desktop and change the Theme name using Dreamwaever, but when I downloaded the file from the ftp, the filesize changed and now its larger. I am confused, can somebody help with this. I really would appreciate it. Here’s the site I am working on http://ganardollar.com/

Oh and one more thing. I see that there is an upgrade for the wordpress theme. I am skeptical about upgrading cause I heard that you can lose your design, content ect.

Is this true and how can I upgrade it without losing anything.

Thanks for your advise in advanced.

    Maritza

  • I suggest that you download the entire theme and check all files in a text editor – not Dreamweaver.

The only things you might lose due to an upgrade are any plugins or theme-specific functions that do not use the API correctly.

    Hi,

Thanks for the response, but I don’t know what I am looking for. How do I fix the problem where it says that the theme selected does not exist?

and when you say, that by upgrading the theme I might lose some specific functions, what are those? Can you give me some examples?

My apologies, I’m very new to this stuff and I really appreciate your advice.

    Thanks again.

Thanks for the advice about not using dreamweaver. I will take that into consideration. Is there any specific reason why?
