Category id is not recognized after Update to 1.2

I updated to version 1.2 this morning, and it broke my posts on a page on a couple of websites. I did not update from 1.1 on another website, and everything is working as suspected and cleaner.

The Category ID is being ignored in all circumstances with version 1.2, and I am getting just the full set of posts in every instance.

Further, with the old version the size of page was determined by the number of posts in a query and th resulting text. Now, the page has to be refined based on a length. The old version was much cleaner in application.
