• Hello,

I created a website using a custom purchased theme, which had the homepage content populated via the Theme > Customize panel.

The site was initially developed on a dev environment and once it was finalized, I moved it to a new domain, following the exact instructions found here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

Everything worked fine after migration, except that the Customize section was no longer loading, it just showed a blank screen, which after a while turned into an error message, as shown here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rwx2d3oer8u6b1a/wp-customize.jpg?dl=0

I literally didn’t change anything from the original site, so this has definitely something to do with the domain name mapping.

    Can you please help?

  • Hi Andru26,

It definitely sounds like a theme problem, so your best bet is to contact the Theme developer (officially this forum does not support commercial/paid themes or plugins, although we sometimes try to, but it’s usually best left to the developer as there are often just too many unknown variables that make it difficult for someone who does NOT own the Theme to help).

That said, it could be an issue where the custom theme allows for only one single installation, and the ‘license’ wasn’t moved from the development site to the production site, OR it might be that the Theme wasn’t properly activated, which would result in the ‘customize’ panel not being available.

Some things to explore – did you create a *new* database on the production site and then import all the data from the development site? If so perhaps some theme options did not get reset properly (URLs etc). You can sometimes fix this using phpMyAdmin if that’s the issue….also the wp-config.php and .htaccess files are common culprits.

Good luck – I do hope the Theme developer can help you…..
