# 2.9 Upgrade Problem

 * Hey, all
 * I manually upgraded WP to 2.9, and I am getting a weird error after upgrading.
   When trying to login to the dashboard, I see a “upgrade your database” screen.
   When I hit the Upgrade the database button, however, I get a blank screen.

 * Any thoughts?

 * Did you disable your plugins before upgrading? If not, rename the plugins folder
   temporarily to disable them & try the upgrade again.

 * Same issue for me.
 * Renaming the plugins folder doesn’t help at all. It just makes restoring the 
   site much more difficult after the upgrade fails to work.
 * Any more thoughts?
