    Clean Retina Theme

    http://www.fly-fishing-colorado.com
Tonight the header images disappeared from the site even though the header customizer shows the correct images randomized in clean retina theme.

After deactivating comet cache, the images show up just the way they should as set in the custom header. There are also no files in the comet cache cache folder which may be the problem. But rebuilding cache should not interfere with the operation of the clean retina theme.

Same Clean Retina theme, same header images only at full size. No problems with Comet Cache and there are files in the cache folder.

  • @flyfisher842 It sounds like that theme might not be fully compatible with WordPress caching plugins. I suggest contacting the theme developer to see what they say about this.

If there’s a compatibility issue related to Comet Cache and the Clean Retina Theme, I’m happy to take a closer look. You (or the theme developer) can file a bug report with technical details about the problem here: https://github.com/websharks/comet-cache/issues

My point is I have comet cache running on two websites both using clean retina. I had no problem with either site until the last comet cache update. Then fly-fishing-colorado.com stop showing the header images until each page was refreshed then it would show. It appeared that rebuilding cache from the update was the trigger.

My other site successfulflyfishing.com had no problem after the comet cache update.

Both sites running the same security plugins and mostly the same plugins period. The only difference is that fly-fishing-colorado.com reverted to showing the header images when I turned off comet cache. I can try reactivating comet cache and will review the settings to see if there is any difference but I think all I did on both sites was just to enable it as suggested.

@flyfisher842 Comet Cache should wipe the entire cache on its own after an update—that’s a normal procedure. If that wasn’t done after the update, that would be abnormal and might explain what you saw.

If the latest version of Comet Cache is working properly on one site but not the other (and assuming both sites are running on the same server), then that sounds like you might have a plugin conflict.

I just reviewed the changelog for the latest Comet Cache update again and confirmed that the latest release did not include any changes that would be likely to cause the issues you’re describing.

Got the header image issue at fly-fishing-colorado.com sorted out. Eliminated over 80 cropped image crap out of the media library and reset a bunch of links. Took me over 6 hours to get it all right but the new header images are working fine with comet cache and BulletProofSecurity Speed Boost code in my htaccess file. Together they rock.

Just got done testing this URI
http://www.successfulflyfishing.com/how-to-identify-trout-species/ with comet cache, old speed boost and optimized images
    GTMetrix
    Page Load 93 YSlow89 loadtime 0.9 424KB 31 requests

    Pingdom San Jose
    Perf 81/100 requests 32 loadtime 398ms page size 483.8
faster than 98% of all tested websites

I don’t think new speedboost will improve this mich but I will test it to see.

The insights page beats my out by 1% at 99% faster but it is only 1/2 my page size and not many images.

So Speedboost and comet cache together really to rock.

The BPS developer was really impressed with his testing of comet cache combined with his speedboost on the htacess file. Your plugin saved him a bunch of development work.

Lastly a couple of plugin recommends if you have to do much media library work.
add-from-server >> allows image ftp and then hook into the library from the file uploads directory. Works great.
    **********************
velvet-blues-update-urls >> allows for easy search and replace of urls if you change images or any url for that matter. Also works great.
    *****************
I looked both plugins up in the https://wpvulndb.com/ WP Scan Vulnerability DB before installing them. Not a guarantee of safety but at least a heads up if a plugin or theme is found there.
