[Theme: Twenty Sixteen] Post format navigation

My site makes intensive use of standard, quote, aside and status posts. I’ve set ‘in_same_term’ to ‘true’ and ‘taxonomy’ to ‘post_format’ in the_post_navigation, and now visitors can navigate from quote to quote, from aside to aside, etc. But standard posts are not recognized as a particular post format, and navigation panes just disappear in them under said configuration. Any hint or suggestion on how to make navigation also possible from standard post to standard post would be appreciated.
