Pasted in URLS automatically become "detail" boxes

    This has been going on since 4.5 or 4.5.1

    When I paste in a url it sometimes automatically becomes a detail box in visual editor.

    There is no additional html in text editor.

    when I try to change it by clicking the edit box on the new graphic detail box it says it is an embeded. http://i947.photobucket.com/albums/ad313/stephtd/DetailBox.jpg

    I have made a graphic of screen shots since it is been removed from my posts by entering the url with text and carefully selecting it to link with insert link.
    (BTW Insert link should be defaultable to _blank target)

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Oh good heavens I don;t know how to do all that.

    It says WP in the corner of the box wouldn;t that imply it is WP Oriented?

    And it began with a WP change.

    Of course as I deactivate plug ins the whole thing will stop working.

    I’m sorry to hear that you find this daunting but it’s really not that difficult. There is no magic bullet in these situations. This is just basic troubleshooting – a process of elimination deliberately designed to locate the root cause as quickly as possible by first removing the most obvious and common culprits via a series of (often) temporary steps.

    Your theme & plugin settings are saved in your database and should be retained for future use.

    Hi

    I have the same issue and don’t find any solution. When I paste the url automatically becomes the box. Did you solve the problem?

    Do you have jetpack plugin? Could be related to this issue?
