• Hey all,

I’m the super-admin for a 5-site multisite. Today I installed a plugin called Membership 2, but Network Deactivated and deleted the plugin shortly after when I realized it wasn’t the plugin I needed.

About an hour later, I realized users were registering for our website. 14 new users had registered, all with yahoo.com accounts (so I can assume they’re spam users). The plugin had changed the setting “Allow new registrations” from “Registration is disabled” to “User accounts may be registered”. I changed the setting back.

It has been 6 hours since I disabled registration of new users but there are still new user accounts being created (5 new users). How are users still registering if I have the “Registration is disabled” setting turned on?

    Thanks,
    Rachael

  • Are you sure registration is still disabled? Check out the Network site settings – domain.com/wp-admin/network/settings.php

‘Allow new registrations’ should be set to ‘Registration is diabled.’
