Can you please post the complete error message you are seeing. Just tested this with the Twenty Sixteen theme with PHP 5.3 and didn’t have any error.
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Our developers are unable to replicate the issue we are seeing here and believe that this a theme specific issue. If you try switching to the Twenty Sixteen theme and deactivate all plugins leaving this plugin active and the issue still occurs please let us know.
I installed Twenty 16 and disabled all plugins, then re-installed the IDX IMpress plugin. No luck… same fatal error:

Still waiting for response. This plugin is created by IDX. Please see this string an provide assistance.
I should not have to have my customer buy a $50 a month theme from IDX to make this plugin work.
This issue seems to be specific to your hosting provider. I have tried everything I can to replicate this and I am unable to do so. Who are you hosting with? Maybe they will offer us a trial to see where the issue lies so we can work on correcting for it.
