In chrome, go to view > developer > javascript console. See what errors are shown.

ajaxChosen is not used in core any more – I think you may have an outdated extension active.

Browser extension? It’s affecting me in both Chrome & Firefox…

    No – WooCommerce extensions (plugin).

Ok. After some troubleshooting, I tracked this down to the WooCommerce subscriptions plugin:

    https://www.woothemes.com/products/woocommerce-subscriptions/

I am using the latest version, and it’s a paid plugin. When this plugin is activated, I get the behavior indicated above. When I deactivate it, everything works normally.

Isn’t this a WooCommerce product? Can you help me sort this out?

Actually, on closer inspection, the latest version is not on the site. The latest version is 2.0.14. We have 1.5.14 on our site.

But there’s no “update to the newest version” dialogue in the dashboard. How do I update it?

You need the WooThemes updater active and licensed. Download the new version of your account as well if you like.
