• The visual editor has completely stopped working. All plugins have been disabled, the TinyMCE plugin has been removed, and nothing works. WP 4.5.1 has been re-installed. I tried changing themes from 2012 to 2015, that didn’t work. There is an error on the post new page related to the TinyMCE plugin (when using F12 Developers Tools), even though it has been removed. There are some 9300 references to it in the WordPress folder. TinyMCE is no help; he could only suggest steps I have already taken.

All I want to do is backup my theme (2012), my posts, and my media. I am guessing that if I backup the full database, whatever is causing the error (TinyMCE) would be contained in the database, and the error would simply re-install itself.

I have BackWPup installed, but don’t care what is used, so long as I don’t lose my posts.

What would the steps be to take to accomplish this?

try resetting the plugins folder by FTP. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

How would I go about doing this. I am able to FTP into the site thru GoDaddy, but I am not sure what to do when I get there.

I apologize for not realizing you included the link…

The reset was done with no change..

The visual editor still is not there..

This is still coming up an error in F12 Developer Console.

These are the 5 options I have to backup WordPress.

    Database backup
    File backup
    WordPress XML export
    Installed plugins list
    Check database tables

Which of the 5 would I use to only back up my content and not the plugins or anything else that might be disrupting Visual Editor?

Found a solution that worked for me….

I have spent hours and hours searching and trying out all the suggestions on the forum but no success. I thought I had some bright moments and tried to install other editors but without any success. Until this morning… I found this plugin called “Disable Visual Editor WYSIWYG”. After that I reactivated my TinyMCE and yoo-hoo… there TinyMCE was back again! It is a work around (and you won’t have the WP’s Visual Editor), but it worked as text can be edited again!!! I assume other editors might work as well. Success!

    Solution didn’t work.

Has anybody else just backing up the content,, deleting everything and re-installed?

What did you use for backup and exactly what was backed up so the problem didn’t re-appear?
