I just downloaded this plugin and I couldn’t be happier with it! The only piece missing for me is receiving a notification when someone adds a new entry and updates a current one. Is there a setting for this that I’m missing? If not, is there another plugin that would work with Connections to achieve this?

    Thanks!

  • Hello all,
I am currently using this plugin and it works great. I currently use it as a business directory on one page and as a team profile on another page which both are view able by general public. I would like to add an address book on another page that would require folks to sign in and create their profiles. is this possible without it affecting the other two pages?
    Thank you!

Is this in regards to the Form extension for Connections? There is a notification that is sent when a new entry is added which can be configured on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Form tab.

Sure, when you add the entries, set their Visibility to Private. ONly logged in subscribers can view private entries. You would then add the directory to the new page only viewable to logged in users the same way you added it to the other two pages.

    Hope that helps!

Thank you! I believe it does. If not you will hear from me again.

    Cheers

Well that did not take long. @shazahm1 when you mean logged in subscribers do you mean people who have logged in via buddypress into our website?
second question can users create their own profiles without us having to do it for them?

    Yes, that is correct.

re: second question can users create their own profiles without us having to do it for them?

Yes, take a look at the Link extension. You may also want the Form extension, that depends if you permit access to the user profile admin pages or not.

@shazahm1 thank you! The Link extension I believe should work.

@shazam1 – I think I spoke too soon…I’m not receiving the notification emails when someone creates a new entry. Got any suggestions for how to debug this?

Are you receiving other WordPress email notices such as new user registrations and password reset notices? If you are not, then you might what to use the Postman plugin. If you are, enable the WP_DEBUG constant in the wp-config.php file. After you do you will see a new posts icon labeled Connections :: Logs you can filter the Form email notifications. Here you will see if a message was sent and if WordPress sent is successfully. If it says successfully then something other than WordPress/Connections is the cause of you not receiving notices. You can also view email logs using WP Mail Logging, Email Log or Log Emails plugins.

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be working. I checked the Connections logs and there isn’t anything in there. From your previous comment, I’m assuming that there should be some indication that a message was sent (either successfully or not)?

I also checked the logs for my web hosting and I didn’t see anything relevant there either.

Ok, maybe we need to take a step back…

Are you receiving other WordPress email notices such as new user registrations and password reset notices?

What are your exact step when testing? INcluding whether you are logged in as an admin or and a test user.

Yes, I am receiving other notifications. I get the standard notifications from WP. I also have another plugin installed that sends me emails. (https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-status-notifier-lite/)

I am *not* logged in as an admin. I am logged in as a test user with limited permissions. I have created new entries with and without an email (I don’t receive email confirmations for the test user either). I have tried deactivating the plugin mentioned above, as well as other plugins that I have installed. :/
