• Hi,

I just started working on my website this morning, but for some reason I can’t get my new pages to publish. Where am I going wrong? I publish the pages, WP is telling me they were published successfully, but when I try to preview the pages all I get is “Page not found,” HTTP 404 – file not found. The links are good, but because the pages aren’t published, they don’t actually go anywhere.

And yes, the pages widget is activated, but that doesn’t mean I did it right. Although it seemed pretty self-explanatory.

    Help?

  • Try deactivating all plugins and check to see if this resolves the problem. If it does, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

Are plug-ins different from widgets? I don’t have any plug-ins installed right now, just widgets.

Ok I deactivated everything. Same problem.

I have the same problem. Just created a new page. When I go to edit it, the info is there but when I try to view the page I get

“Page not found,” HTTP 404 – file not found

The pages that were created prior to upgrading to 2.8 are fine.

Ok, I’ve combed through the support pages, and finally found something that seems to work. Go to your “settings,” then “permalinks,” and change your “permalinks” setting to “default.” That seems to have fixed my problem. Yay!

What do your links look like because I’m having problems with new pages that I create, they don’t go to the navigation bar? Thanks!

ok. This works. But seems to me that it should not matter. I like to use post titles so the link is easy to remember… This is a bug.

    tracy – any luck?

i’ve got the same problem. changing the permalinks setting to default fixed it, but i prefer the more date-specific permalinks, too.
