Client is using the plugin. On the surface, quite nice. But can’t figure out these problems and they are creating some challenges.

    1) Is there any way to have new listings on MLS autopublish upon synchronizing with the website? I can’t think of anyone who would want to login to WP, go to the listings area in the navigation, individually select each new property and then click “import listing” every day, several times per day.

    2) When properties are removed from the MLS service, the listings don’t seem to go into draft. When I mean “removed” I mean listings are either marked as “sold” or “in contract” or one of those statuses, rentals are marked as “rented” – all statuses where an entry should be deleted or put into draft based upon the settings on the back end.

    3) When we change an MLS listing on the website to have an additional category, it changes back and I’m guessing at sync. For example, we sync a property into our listings. it is imported and done. Rather than just check, the sync will change the listing in WordPress that was already imported and any custom work you’ve done on the website are gone.
(My understanding is that this is an outstanding issue. Would love to get an update when available as it’s creating issues for us as you can understand. Thanks for your polite and timely assistance.)

    1. There is no method to autopublish new listings at this time.

    2. If the listing is still in the featured listings API return data, it will remain as published. Sold listings are only moved to draft/deleted/updated if the listings are in the soldpending API return data.

    3. We will be updating the listing importer method in the next plugin release. This update will not reset the taxonomy terms when performing an update and will only append to any existing terms. All other listing meta fields will continue to be updated to reflect what is in the API feed for MLS compliance reasons.

Thank you for the responses and they are appreciated. Unfortunately what you describe seems very impractical to my clients and other brokers I service. I can’t blame them for feeling this way and I’ll explain.

    1. What broker wants to be burdened by having to manually go through the publish process every time they add one MLS listing? Being frank, I could probably set up a cron job to get these things accomplished and am unsure why it is so difficult to implement. I’d rather not have to hack myself what every client has requested.

    2. I’m unsure what this means, especially with regard to #3. Does this mean that in order for a broker to have a property be unpublished, deleted or in draft is if they do NOT delete the listing with the MLS but first change its status, then sync, and then after delete from the MLS?

    3. This is problematic for several reasons. First, there is no compliance issue with any of my broker clients because these are the brokers’ own listings. These are not listings of any other broker. It’s no different than putting up listings first on their website and then placing them into the MLS system.

Second, it undermines the entire purpose of using WordPress, which allows brokers to edit their own listings as they wish. And I’ve found that several of the databases which are hosted by IDX Broker don’t allow the categorizing and sorting that the MLSes themselves provide if you host with the MLS. So you can’t even additionally categorize your own listings the way you’d like to do so on your website.

So here is the last bit of frustration. If the sync doesn’t sync deleted properties, that means I have properties on my WordPress site that no longer appear in MLS. But if I want to have properties simply have additional attributes or additions to the description, this plugin will overwrite and remove my modifications. It doesn’t sync what the average broker probably wants to sync and it doesn’t have any option to not sync the areas that are supposed to be WordPress unique areas.

So in summary, if a broker has to login to WordPress, navigate to properties, then perform a manual update each time they enter a property in MLS, they would sooner use any other software that simply frames their MLS listings on their website. It’s one entry, it updates immediately, no hassle. And if brokers can’t even edit their own listings on their own website to make their properties unique from what is in MLS, they are better served by just having an MLS frame again and not needing to go through all these gymnastics to get the same, unmodifiable listings in WordPress.
