I am using custom fields in my NextGen gallery (see this page for an example).

While I’ve managed to successfully link the captions to each image’s external website, when a user clicks on the actual image itself, I just get a spinning wheel, and nothing happens. This is confusing for the end user–where do I have to tweak the code so that clicking on the image itself will take the user to the custom URL as well as if they click the caption?

  • Similar problem here. Using a custom LINK field so that clicking an image takes visitor to a related page on the site, instead of taking visitor to the image itself (or lightbox popup).

Apparently some update (WordPress, I suspect) in the past year broke something – as it used to work.

    Example page:

    http://www.bigbendcares.org/artopia-the-artopians/

Clicking on the first image (stacey anne) should take you here:

    http://www.bigbendcares.org/meet-an-artopian-stacey-anne/

Instead, it takes you to the image.

So… somehow, the custom fields aren’t being parsed anymore.

Having the same problem over here, wanted to use an external link to each image.
This used to be possible with custom fields, adding them to the pictures and activating them in nextgen-gallery/view/gallery.php
But after an update of WP, this file isn’t to be found anywhere.
I saw on a forum you should seek now for /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/view , but I can’t get any further with this.
The only thing I can achieve is, if you click on the image, this one pops up with a link writen under the image, but when you click on it, you’ll get ‘page not found’. So it stays inside your website.
I’m not a master in scripts, but someone who is, should be able to add something to this plugin, or to the NGG-plugin to make this a whole lot easier
