  • So I wanted to update 2.8.2 to .4

The automatic update wouldnt work: the file created had 0 bytes and nothing happened for quite some time.

So I decided to upload the root of .8.4 into my blogs root (after backup and deactivating the plugin).

Now: I cannot re-activate my plugins (Error 500) and I am not sure if everythings allright with the db. I had expected to be asked about updating the db.
Re-login via /wp-admin does not change anything.

What did I do wrong? Thanks for the help!

  • Hm, now I get the error 500 when I try to access the wp-admin.
    Blog is still running though.

i’ve been getting the ERROR 500 on all kinds of things, like when I try to edit a post, or sometimes make a new post, or sometimes just trying to access the admin dashboard.

on one of my blogs, if Akismet is activated, i get ERROR 500 when I try to post a new entry, but if I deactivate Akismet, i can post (but I still have other problems with the admin section of the blog).

This has all started happening in just the last week.

I uploaded my backup.. now I am back with 2.8.2.

When I try to update automatically I get
    Downloading update from

    and nothing ever happens..?

nobody knows why automatic update wont work and how i can get around it?

got it now. seems like it was the “all in one seo”-plugin that killed it.
