Support » Fixing WordPress » HTML code appearing when I don’t want it to

  • Hi all,

I’ve been looking around here for an answer to this, but haven’t found it.

Recently, I went into the “Edit Post” section of the admin panel and clicked on the post I wanted to change slightly.

The posting box is in HTML code view. No problem: I know enough about HTML (XHTML) to be able to edit my post in this view

I have been able to figure out that this is probably related to the feature called “Visual Editor” in the “Personal Options” segment of the “Your Profile” portion of the “Users” screen that allows one to “Disable the visual editor when writing”. Unchecking this option (i.e., the Visual Editor is enabled) seems to return the screen to plain text.

However, what I don’t get is why, when I do check this box, only one of my posts (the one I wanted to edit) showed the HTML code. All of my other posts still show up as plain text, when I should be able to see the HTML.

Anyone know if my analysis is correct and/or why this is happening and how to effectively deal with it?

    Thanks in advance…

    BriDog

  • As I understand it, the HTML tab textarea shows the text you entered – not the final parsed version for display on the site. So if there’s no markup on most of the posts, it’s because you didn’t enter any.
