    Hi everyone,

I would like to edit a line of text which appears to be a typo in the wishlist. I have downloaded the nl_NL.po file (for Dutch) and edited this text with Poedit. Now I have saved this .po file and uploaded it back to where I downloaded this nl_NL.po file from the wishlist plugin, but it doesn’t work.

The text doesn’t change and the typo is still there. Frustrating 😀

Can someone help me in how to change this text? This typo looks really unprofessional on my website.

  • Did you save the file as ‘yith-woocommerce-wishlist-nl_NL’, or just nl_NL?
Did you also upload the MO file to the folder wp-content/plugins/yith-woocommerce-wishlist/languages?

    any luck so far Fbenver?

    Hi Pieterclaesen,

    Thank for your reply.

I have accessed the file on this path: public_html/wp-content/plugins/yith-woocommerce-wishlist/languages

And here I have edited the .po file in Dutch. So I have translated the line directly from the source, but it didn’t change in the front-end.

So, eventhough I have changed the text in the .po file, the default text still appears in the front-end.

Try saving the PO file locally, make sure the language is correct. Then save as (save to desktop for example). Poedit will auto-create an .mo file too. you need to upload both to your FTP, the path you mentioned is correct.
In my experience, editing the po file directly on your FTP doesn’t always update the MO file too.
Both need to be edited on the same date-hour-minute-second.

I just tried this, but it doesn’t work.

All I need to change is when you click on the empty wishlist, it says: “Er wijn geen producten toegevoegd aan de wenslijst”.

There is obviously a typo and it should be “zijn” instead of “wijn”.

The funny thing is, now on both the .po and .mo files the typo has been corrected (when I open the .po file for example, it shows the correct sentence), but this just doesn’t appear on my website in the front-end.

    Hi Fbenver,

Have you tried clearing your cache? Can you send me a link of the website so I can check from my end?

Thank you for your reply. I have luckily fixed the problem.

I searched through all the codes for the typo, and it appears that the typo is in the .po / .mo of the plugin “YITH Essential Kit for WooCommerce #1”. It seems that this one acts like a “master” and has more authority than the files of the “YITH WooCommerce Wishlist” plugin.
