Rss Feed Problem…

After I changed my index page to only display one category -with this code

$blog = 1;
if (!isset($cat)) {
$cat = “1”;
}

Now the RSS feeds don’t show up in the sidebar? I have checked the templates and the RSS is in the sidebar template and the archive template is calling up the sidebar and displays all of it but the rss…Please help…Thanks
