Hi, tried to log into to my site today and there’s nothing there. Instead I get this message:

    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I did get a message from DreamHost to say that they had recently updated WordPress.

Anyone have any ideas about what I can do?

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

You don’t install phpMyAdmin on your own computer (unless that’s where you’re hosting the website). You login to your hosting company’s control panel and use it there – presumably Dreamhost provide it, most hosts do.

But that’s not what Matthew was suggesting, have you tried what he said yet?

All ok now. Dream Host sorted it via their end but thanks for help anyway….
