Hi,
It has never been possible out of the box to use the year instead of icons. How were you achieving it before? You may have editing core files, and when you updated your changes were lost.
Thanks,
Evan

Hallo,
… many thanks for your very quick answer!
Sorry – Ok you have right! (a little) 😉
I use in the old version, the text box for the class name “Font Awesome Class” (in the Announcement Options)!
A little trick 😉
Because, I need the ability to enter text (E. G. the year).
For the balls (in the middle of the timeline).
Because, I absolutely need. It is necessary for my project!
See here: http://www.koeberl-gmbh.de/historie/
Is it perhaps possible, these small adaptation to integrate in the next version? PLEASE … 😉
Thanks, Mike
Hey Mike,
I wondered if you would be so kind as to share your ‘trick’ ? 🙂
The result on your website looks great!
Regards, Paul
You can most likely use the filter timeline-express-custom-icon-html
to alter the output of the icon container. Grabbing the post meta for ‘announcement_date’, and passing it through date()
should allow you to display the year.
In the upcoming release I will ensure this works before releasing it, and will have a documentation page setup explaining how to achieve it.
Thanks,
Evan

Hallo wavestation,
… this “trick” works ONLY in old version 1.1.6.8!
If you have (through plugin updates) a higher plugin version, is it not more possible, to use the text field to set a text (e.g. “1978”) instead the class name for the “Font Awesome Class”.
But, you’ve already read the post from Evan – right?!?
You can wait on the next release 😉
G, Mike
I’ll wait on the next release! 😉
