I’m trying out Simple Calendar on a club Web site. I made use of the documentation and the WPbeginner post about configuring the calendar and plugin, so I think I’ve configured the calendar correctly. We’ve used the embedded iframe code from Google for a couple of years now, so the calendar is publicly shared. I’ve triple-checked that I’ve set the correct API in Simple Calendar’s settings, as well as the Calendar ID in the new calendar. Yet only the empty calendar appears.

Here is a test page on our development site:
    http://rcn-wp.donkiely.net/testcalendar/

And here is the embedded calendar iframe linked to the same calendar, which is working fine:
    http://rcn-wp.donkiely.net/calendar/

As you can see, we have at least a couple of events every week. Yet nothing shows up on the Simple Calendar version of the page.

Below is the system report text. Shortcode I’m using is [calendar id=”416″]. I’m using Divi with a child theme, and I’ve verified that wp_footer() is in footer.php.

What might I be doing wrong?

    Thanks!
    Don

Hi just to rule out any possible conflicts could you run through this before we dig deeper:

    Thanks!

Done. I didn’t do it on the original site that I first wrote about. But I had another WordPress installation that I hadn’t started building out yet. I disabled every other plugin, switched to the TwentyFifteen Theme, and inactivated all the standard widgets. I put in the Calendar API key and configured the calendar. Still isn’t working.

    Thanks for your help!

I just took a look at your site and paged backwards to March and see an event there.

What are your calendar settings set at? There might just be a length issue or something going on that we can just tweak the settings to resolve.

Very strange that it is picking up just that one event from last month.

    Events:
    Calendar start: Today
Earliest event: 1 month before start date
Latest event: 1 year after start date

Appearance settings are all the defaults

    Google Calendar:
Maximum Events: 2500 (we have a lot of events during the year, but nowhere near this many!)
Other than the Calendar ID, these are all the defaults

Advanced settings are all the defaults

I don’t see any other settings that might be relevant; I haven’t gotten far enough to start tweaking the settings. Anything in here look funny?

    Thanks,
    Don

Well, I decided to delete the calendar and start over. And now it works. I didn’t change anything else. Very strange.

Other than this glitch, I’m liking the plugin. Thanks for doing it!

    Hi
I`m having a similar problem. The grid calendar will show, but not the list.
I´ve tried, like Don, to delete everything and start over and it still won`t work…

    Here´s a test page I made: http://www.f-2.no/test-kalender-feed/
It only have the title and the shortcode for the calendar on it.

I see a lot of people on this forum are having the same problem with list view compared to grid view.

I´ve tried all the troubleshooting without results.

Thankful for any help I can get!

    @donkiely,

Very weird, but glad it is working now. Maybe some sort of setting in the DB just didn’t update correctly and needed to be resets. Not completely sure.

    @ingunnruud,

Can you run through this first please: http://docs.simplecalendar.io/troubleshooting-theme-plugin-widget-conflicts/

    Hi
I already went through all the troubleshooting with no luck I´m afraid.
I´ve also tried with other calendars, so I know it´s not the calendar theres something wrong with. And the grid view is working…

So you are just having issues with the list view? What are your calendar settings for it?

    Hi

I think I found out where the problem is. It has something to do with the Site Language in the general WordPress settings. I switched it from Norwegian to english to take a screenshot of my calendar settings for you and then the list view suddenly worked. But the dates were in english and when I put the site back to Norwegian ( Norsk bokmål ) the calendar list would not show up anymore…

Is it possible to fix this so that I can have the list view in Norwegian?

    Plugin Contributor Nick Young

    (@nickyoung87)

Ok I think I know the problem here. There is an issue with Carbon (the library we use for date and times) with the Norwegian language. Take a look at this:

    https://github.com/briannesbitt/Carbon/issues/527

I will see if I can get any information on a workaround for this. Sorry for the hassle!

    Thank you!

Right now I´m just thrilled I finally figured out where the problem was! It´s only the name of the month that is the issue. The date- and time-format I was able to put in manually with PHP in the Calendar settings.

Would be great if we could get the months back to Norwegian though, but until you figure something out I`ll use the english setting. It would be the nb_NO I would use, but the names of the months are the same in both nb_NO and nn_NO so either would do!

If you need any help translating Norwegian just let me know 🙂

Cool thank you for your understanding. Glad you were able to nail it down also. The unfortunate part here is we have to wait for Carbon to make a fix. If they don’t do that soon then we will have to look into a possible workaround that we can do in the mean time.

Marking resolved since we are waiting on a fix from Carbon.
