Support » Plugin: Widget Shortcode » Installation problem?

  • WordPress 4.4.2
    BuddyPress 2.5.2
    Widget Shortcode 0.2.4

I installed and activated the Widget Shortcode plugin but wasn’t seeing any admin left-side menu options for it. I checked the Appearance => Widgets setup and was seeing the new “Arbitrary” widget that was added. I moved a batch of BuddyPress related widgets there, but not seeing an widget shortcode being generated?

The way the plugin works is that below each widget you see “Shortcode:” text (screenshot: https://wordpress.org/plugins/widget-shortcode/screenshots/), followed by the actual shortcode that you can use to display that widget. The Arbitrary widget area is added by the plugin as a place where you can safely add widgets you don’t want normally to show on frontend (presumably, other widget areas are added by the theme which are displayed somewhere in frontend).
The new update also adds a shortcode generator in the TinyMCE plugin, simply find the “gear” icon in the editor, click it to reveal a list of widgets you have in the Arbitrary area and choose.
