wp2.8 language localization timeout error

Hi, here’s the problem

I had wp2.7 with ‘es_ES’ localization on my test server. Trying to upgrade to wp2.8, I had a problem like this:

Then I renamed my wp-content\languages to wp-content\languages.BAK and this time the upgrade completed successfully.

So I tried to enable my plugins one by one… no problem with unlocalized plugins, but again, localized plugins threw errors like this:

I had to move out these plugins in order to deactivate them. 2.8 is now working, but not localized and without some important plugins, so I can’t use 2.8 out of my test server for production.

Is it a bug? Something I’m missing? Help will be appreciated.
