I suddenly got over 200 soft 404 errors on search pages.

i.e. this page: https://www.mexpro.com/blog/search/page/45/ with 404 error shows it’s being linked from this page: https://www.mexpro.com/blog/page/45/?s

When I view page source for the ?s page, the only time I see a link to the /45/ page with the error is in the canonical & the og:url.

I have never had this issue. It just appeared yesterday and I actually got an email from Google about it, which seriously concerns me.

In my Yoast settings under “Titles & Metas” > “Archives” the Search pages are automatically “noindex, follow” and I don’t have the option to change. But this means to me that the bots should not crawl them. So why are they?

I can’t really robots every single search page in the site. Please HELP before I lose rankings. Thank you.

Bump this. I’m receiving the same issue with thousands of search errors for the same thing. My settings under archive have the same “noindex, follow” options for search terms. Photo to all of the search terms being crawled.

Bump again. Even though I have Media (Attachment) as Not in Sitemap on the “Post Types” section under XML Sitemaps category on Yoast plugin, I’m still getting a lot of 404 errors of the following. Why do these attachment 404 errors exist if I’ve marked this as Noindex (Not in Sitemap).

    ?attachment_id=3530
    ?attachment_id=3140
    ?attachment_id=3265
