    Hello,

thank you for this plugin. It worked well until recently πŸ™‚

It blocks every login attempt, even from cafeteria or from mobile hotspot, in any browser.

What can I do to get into my website?

    Plugin says

ERROR: We’re sorry, but this IP range has been blocked due to too many recent failed login attempts.

    Please try again later.

    Kindly thank you in advance,
    Jan

@maresj – have any changes been done to the site lately? Have you switched hosts? The plugin does not work on certain hosts that are behind a firewall, because all of the visits appear to come from the same ip address.

To manually disable the plugin, log in via ftp, navigate to the wp-content/plugins folder, and rename the login-lockdown folder to something else, eg, login-lockdown.disabled. Then you should be able to log in normally, and if you like you can then rename the folder back afterwards. I hope this helps.

    Hi Michael,

I’m having the same problem. I have not switched hosts and they just referred to the lockout feature, saying that it should open again after an hour. However, it does not.

I have not been able to access the website admin since last Friday. I tried again this morning (for the first time since yesterday and using the correct password) without success.

The same message pops up after just one login attempt: “ERROR: We’re sorry, but this IP range has been blocked due to too many recent failed login attempts. Please try again later.”

How do I get in via ftp or should my hosting service do this? I’ve only ever used the wp-admin route.

Can I disable this feature permanently?

    Thanks,

    Doug

    Hi Michael,

I have somehow managed to log into my website. I just left it and after 15 minutes the website was logged in. Don’t ask me why πŸ™‚

I, for now, have deactivated the plugin. No host change occured. It is weird, because I have many websites on the same VPS and only this one and one other has problem with the plugin.

    Kind regards,
    Jan

I am having the same login issue. I have not changed anything and yet without having logged in at all recently, I am told there are too many failed attempts and I cannot access this for 19 hours. I waited overnight and I get the same message before I can even try to log in. How do I get into the FTP to reset this? i always have used the admin method as well. Thanks

That would be specific to your host. If you have cpanel hosting you can do those changes through the file manager though. Or, if you have access to phpmyadmin you can edit the entry in the wp_options table for the active_plugins setting directly. Setting the option_value to a:0{} will disable all plugins at once.
