• I have a question, if I use a .htaccess file uploaded to the wp-admin folder. Which only allows access to that folder from one IP Address (mine). Will this cause any wordpress function to not work correctly like Ping-backs/track-backs etc.

Basically, is it safe to do this like so many sites advertise to make wordpress more secure, or does it cause any underlining issues that people like myself should be aware off.

look at the files that are inside wp-admin/

anytime those files are accessed the user behind the browser will get a passwd dialog box. That includes the stylesheet and images that are responsible for what the login page looks like, btw.

Its safe, yes. it wont break pingbacks or trackbacks. it can, however, be a pita.
