• Hello.

I’ve upgraded to 8.2 two days ago. After this i noticed that new posts doesen’t have thumbnails anymore. I look in the sorce code and i saw that the <img src…> missing at the new posts.

I look in the image uploader and i saw that the extensions are UPPERCASE. Also, the extensions are UPPERCASE also in uploads/06/ folder. The rest of the files are lowercase, before the upgrading.

The watermark plugin stopped to work, also.

I have a photo website and….now i seach for solution, to post photos again.

    Any solution ?

  • Try deactivating all plugins and check to see if this resolves the problem. If it does, activate the plugins one by one – checking image upload and insertion after each re-activation – until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    Hi,

Make sure that you have used all the compatible plugins with wordpress 2.8..otherwise disable them..

make sure you have upgraded database after wordpress upgrade

check the permissions with wp-coontents/upload folder..it should be 766 recursive

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

The problem is not at the plugins.

The problem is at media uploader. In the past it convert extension of the file from UPPER to lower case. Now, at LINK URL is UPPERCASE. It’s ok if i multi rename the files with Total Commander. But i don’t want to stay all the time to do this at my images.

Did you try deactivating your plugins to see if it resolves the issue?

Don’t just say “The problem is not at the plugins.” Literally check and report back.

In 2.7 version the images with uppercase (.JPG ) extenssion are converted in .jpg ( lowercase ) in image manager.

I have 5 blogs who have 2.7 version. All those blogs work fine.

After i upgrade one blog to 2.8, this problem appeared.

I deactivated all the plugins and verified again. The same result.

    1. Shane G., why to give the write permission to the World at upload folder?
    2. I reinstalled the blog with problem ( 2.8 ) using now 2.7.1 . No problem at all now. The uploading works very fine, the extension is lowercase. I only regret the time lost trying to find the solution at 2.8.

I am experiencing a similar problem, where my plugin Shadowbox-JS is attempting to load files linked to by the “Link Image” feature in the WordPress image options. The link given is with a lowercase .jpg, but the actual file exists with an uppercase extension (.JPG) causing it to fail. It would seem there is a bug with 2.8’s uploader – anyone know which file to patch it in?

    Thanks!

Yes, if you look with ftp in upload directory, you will see that images have UPPERCASE extensions but in “Link image” field have lowercase extensions. The 2.7.1 version convert them into lowercase extension.

After I test this bug on the newest release, I am planning to submit this to the WordPress Trac, anoyone have any suggestions, objections or comments prior?

it would seem this bug has been fixed in the latest versions.

CND, can you confirm the same?

    Sorry for my late asnswer.
Yes, i confirm the same sitiation.
The blogs with 2.8.4 version store the images with UPPER extensions, if they are created with an image editor who doesen’t convert them in lower extension.
I use YAPB for a photo blog, so this plugin do this ( the transformation ).
