Support » Plugin: Buddypress Who clicked at my Profile? » Possible to get all notifications to show up on notifications menu?

    Hi,

I noticed that only one notification is shown in the notifications menu at a time but all notifications are shown when viewing the notifications section on a members profile. Any way to fix this?

For example, if member A views member B’s profile, a notification will show in member B’s notifications menu saying that member A visited their profile. However, if member C also views member B’s profile, only member A is shown. But, if Member B views all unread notifications on their profile, they can see that both A and C viewed their profile.

    Regards,

    Hi,

No that’s not possible, I’m sorry.
I also think that thats nto a good idea. just imagen how many noticitations would be created doing this in a highly frequented community.

Hey Florian, good points, didn’t really think about that. Individual notifications for every member who visited a profile would definitely be overwhelming with a large community.

Interestingly though, I just installed a plugin called Buddypress Follow and I noticed that it handles notifications in a way that solves the problem of too many individual notifications. If one member follows another member, a single notification is shown that links to that members profile, however, if a second member also follows that same member, the plugin automatically updates that individual notification saying two users followed you and then links to the notifications tab instead. Pretty cool.

I’m not a coder so have no clue how the plugin author achieved this but I did find the code section while browsing his plugin files that he used to accomplish this. Maybe you will find it useful to further improve your plugin’s new notifications feature. Great updates by the way, loving the new features. Here’s the code direct from his plugin if you are interested:

    Hi Mark,

I’m getting new notifications every time different people visit someone’s profile, but I am using another plugin which gives immediate notifications in a popup too, I’m not sure whether that’s why…

I’m using this plugin for a dating website, it would be nice to have a counter to go alongside the menu item which I have created for it, to show when someone new has viewed their profile. Any idea how to do that?

@mikee1001 I cannot give support for other plugins, please send your issue to the plugin author of the noticifatin popup plugin you use.
You can deactivate notification usage for my profile, see faq section for more details.

Ok thanks @quan_flo, but I am happy with the way the other plugin is working, and having notifications. Is it possible to have a counter for this, to count how many people have clicked someone’s profile?

It is not possible to store a counter value actually, I’m sorry.
