Support » Plugin: Contact Form 7 » X-EDSO – what is this?

  • Hello,

When I send mails to myself with Contact Form 7, I get this here in the message text appearing:

    X-EDSO: [a long number]

I was wondering what this is? Can this be hidden somehow? I’m wondering if this is a security issue, if people message me, and then, when I reply, they get to see this number in their quoted email.

    Thanks!

How have you set up your mail?

I have it set the way it’s show in the link you just sent me.

In the “To:” field I have “contact@mysite.com”

In the “From:” field, however, I have the default which is “wordpress@mysite.com”.

Yes I have no such address. So that’s the only thing where I’m not 100% sure. The only email I have for my site is contact@mysite.com. Is this what I should set it to?

Otherwise, everything works fine. All emails arrive, didn’t have any problems so far (only been testing, not using for real yet).

    EDIT:

I changed it to “contact@mysite.com”, but the message / bug / whatever it is, is still there. I changed it back to “wordpress@mysite.com”.

Ok. What do you have in Message body and Additional headers?

    Thread Starter Foliferous

    (@revs)

The message body on the page is only the contact form, thus only this here:

    [contact-form-7 id="11" title="Contact Form"]

    This is my contact form:

Your Name (required)
[text* your-name]

Your Email (required)
[email* your-email]

Subject
[text your-subject]

Your Message
[textarea your-message]

[recaptcha]

[submit "Send"]

Thanks for the support so far!

No. I meant Message body and Additional headers fields in the Mail tab.

    This is the message body:

    From: [your-name] <[your-email]>
    Subject: [your-subject]

    [your-message]

    --
This e-mail was sent from a contact form on Logic Benchmarks (http://mysite.com)

And this here is my additional headers field:

    Reply-To: [your-email]

I haven’t really changed anything as far as I can remember, I left it pretty much the way it when, when I downloaded it.

Try deactivating all other plugins and switching to to the default theme to see if the X-EDSO text disappears.

Yup, still there! It’s always the same number.

Do you receive other mail from WordPress like comment notification or new user notification?

    Thread Starter Foliferous

    (@revs)

Yes, email notifications for comments were activated (but no page or post has a comment section on the site). I still deactivated this feature, and tried to send an email, but it’s still there. Sorry for bugging you with this!

I’ve now tried to completely delete the plugin, reinstall it and retry everything. But it’s still there.

Check whether you have the X-EDSO text in the comment notification mail.

Nope, it’s not there, just the IP and a few other infos. What is this anyway?
