Strange Behaviour on a Couple WP Sites

    Akismet version: 3.1.8
    WP Version: 4.4.2–en_GB

    Spam is being added to the Pending comments. Its also being emailed to admin address.

    This looks like the bug which 3.1.8 attempted to address?

    We manage a heap of WP websites with Akismet on a high usage API.

    Another site, which is on an older version (we don’t manage it) is also seeing spam come through by email and going to “pending” for the past several days.

    That one is:

    Akismet Version: 3.1.1
    WP version: 4.2.2

    I know it needs updating.

    Both use the same API (the second site won’t be soon).

    Could this be down to the API?

    There’s a secondary issue of my email address being added to spam (even on the admin account!), but this might be down to the fact I was reposting old comments to triage some of the behaviour…

    Forget this, I think I’ve found the common issue. We need to generate a new API key.

    The second site was using a very old API key, which has been binned, and the first site somehow came out of staging with this key in it, too, triggering several spams to come through.

    They both happened in the same few days. We need to use the new API code…
