I don’t know what exactly is up with the latest update (as of today), but it killed my WordPress admin after updating. I had to manually remove the plugin to re-gain access. For reference, I was getting the following error:
Fatal error: Class 'HM\BackUpWordPress\Setup' not found in /home/ourcore/public_html/wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/functions/core.php on line 287

Then, I uninstalled and re-installed the plugin and I’m getting the following error in the Backups page:
Mysqldump: mysqldump: Error: 'Got error 28 from storage engine' when trying to dump tablespaces

I tried deleting the backups folder on the server, but clearly there’s an issue in the database. I’d just like to delete all the backups and clear up any issues.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Me too. When I installed it, basically, relative to my paths, same as above:

“Fatal error: Class ‘HM\BackUpWordPress\Setup’ not found in /home/ourcore/public_html/wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/functions/core.php on line 287”

It hosed the site so I deleted the plugin folder and site was immediately restored. I’ll just wait until it’s fixed to reinstall. Thanks guys!

I had the same experience – upgraded today to the latest version, all of /wp-admin/ stopped working (500 Internal Server Errors, no obvious error log messages). Had to move the plugin dir out of the way to regain access. I’m running 4.4.2.

I only renamed the backupwordpress folder under plugins to deactivate it and I could get back into my site. The changlelog states:
    3.4.4 / 2016-02-23

Ensure temporary files are correctly cleaned up before and after running a backup.
Avoid killing site if plugin is active on PHP 52
Allow custom secure key using filter
Fixes a bug which caused the root path to the WordPress install to be miscalulated in certain setups.

    3.4.4-beta

I tested the 3.4.4-beta and it worked fine on the sites where I installed it. They added additional stuff in the 3.4.4 that they pushed today and it’s the new stuff that killed it somehow.

thanks for the report. It seems this bug made it through our testing.
    Will release a fix momentarily

Lots of errors popping up after the update. Can’t access the Admin without manually deleting the plugin.

Had to disable the plugin on all my websites, can’t access the Admin.

Not to pile on but I had exactly the same problem.

Had to deactivate to get into the admin.

I loaded a copy of the previous version of Backupwordpress from my Backupwordpress backup :), working fine again

I’ve got the same error on the first of many sites, so I’m not going to update any of the rest of them before this is fixed!

I’m experiencing this same issue, however it persists even after I have removed the backupwordpress directory from the plugins directory. The front-end of the site remains available, but I cannot access wp-admin.

    Any help on this?

what URL are you trying to access? just wp-admin/ ?

the issue should be fixed in 3.4.5

Thanks for the very quick fix! I’ve just installed 3.4.5 on one site and it’s working just fine. πŸ™‚ Now on to all the rest…

    Yes, just wp-admin.

It just prompts me with the same message as above:

Fatal error: Class ‘HM\BackUpWordPress\Setup’ not found in /html/wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/functions/core.php on line 287

If there has already been another update that fixes this, I’m regrettably just not sure how to update the plugin after I’ve already removed it from the server and can’t access wp-admin.

Hey there HaydenLewis – depending on who your hosting is, they might have some caching built in – are you able to log into your cPanel and/or hosting and verify that the plugin was deleted that way? And also check to ensure there isn’t a cache still causing issues?

Thanks – and sorry again for the trouble!

Hey there @ourcore – I see that you actually have an additional issue – are you able to reach out to us through our dedicated support channel by enabling support? We can work with you directly on that issue if you could do that (and have you updated to 3.4.5?)

Thanks so much and sorry again for the trouble,
    Kat

    Ah.

The way our hosting and FTP is set up got the best of me here β€” I removed the plugin from a production subdomain instead of our live domain. Just removed it from the live domain and now have access to wp-admin! About to reinstall the plugin.

Thanks for the speedy and helpful support!

Thanks for the quick update, guys. Kat, yes, the MySQL error remains after the 3.4.5 update. I’m currently on the Intercom support.
