When I choose a location called

    PURI SENTRA NIAGA
(complete address: PURI SENTRA NIAGA, East Jakarta, Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Indonesia)

And the listing get previewed, it shows:

    Sentra Niaga Puri Indah
(complete address: Sentra Niaga Puri Indah, Jl. Puri Indah, Kembangan, Kota Jakarta Barat, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 11610, Indonesia)

Similar name, but totally different location.

Then I use a plugin from Astoundify – WP Job Manager – Extended Location, where I can really pinpoint the location.

But still the result is the same.

It seems that WP Job Manager doesn’t use the long and lat coordinate given, instead it uses the name of location, where in this case, it seems Google often to get mixed.

It’s really a problem, when address is important.

I use the Listable theme from pixelgrade. They said they use the map system as is, as coded by WP Job Manager.

So maybe you can shed a light?

I think using “PURI SENTRA NIAGA” as an address is giving you vague results because the address (as entered) is itself pretty vague. I would recommend you start with the fullest address that you can.

You can also use the Lock option to lock the pin to the location, and then update the address independently.

When I use the Astoundify plugin, I am able to use its auto suggestion. The result is:

PURI SENTRA NIAGA, East Jakarta, Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Indonesia. This data comes from Google itself.

And the map that comes along under the location field, shows the correct location point.

If wp job manager uses the long and lat to retrieve other data, such as street name, etc. no matter how vague the name is, it can’t be wrong. (I admit, I don’t know exactly how geolocation works)

And I’ve checked, the long and lat, when get saved (previewed) to DB is changed.
Even when I made some adjusments, by adding lat and long fields, to make sure it get saved to metakey geolocation_long and geolocation_lat when previewed.

You can also use the Lock option to lock the pin to the location, and then update the address independently.

The lock option work the other around. I can write an address, google shows the location point with the marker. I lock the pin. Then I can move the marker without changing the address.

If I change the address, the marker will move accordingly, regardless the pin is locked.

By the way can I force the map to use other language?

We don’t change the location name for display, it just displays however you input it. Geolocation data gets stored in addition but we don’t display that at all.

Again, my guess is that the location you’re inputting is too vague. WP Job Manager shows whatever is input, but your theme might change this to geolocation data. You can confirm this by looking in the backend at location field vs geolocation custom fields.

Could you please point which files handle the processing of geolocation data? So I can have better understanding.

I have changed the theme, but the problem still persists. The correct long and lat it’s not saved. So it’s not theme related.

And if the name is vague, WP Job manager – extended plugin wouldn’t be able to point exactly the right location on the map, in my opinion.

But I appreciate your help pointing me directions.

I have tried the name PURI SENTRA NIAGA on Google Map, and it can find the right location easily.

So the name is clear for Google.

I have tried reverse geocoding to use the lat and long instead. But still the address given is the wrong one.
I’ve read other people experiencing the same problem. So I guess the problem is in the Google product itself.

    So I stop here.
