• Hello,

I was at a friends house and looked at my website on their computer. To my horror, their norton antivirus was going off on a number of posts and pages on my site. The issue was JS.Downloader. I have McAfee here at home and it does not go off when I visit my own site here at home.

I just made the connection tonight that JS must mean Javascript. I must have accidentally downloaded this to my computer at some point. I thought it was legitimate but just realized tonight that it is not legitimate. I was always getting prompts to update it, etc. I got rid of all the secondary files tonight but cannot get rid of the primary JS file on my computer. It will not delete. I’d rather not do a system restore if I can avoid it.

Is the JS file on my computer directly related to the JS Downloader warnings per Norton that I witnessed on my friends computer when I visited my site from their computer? I did upgrade my site to the latest version of WP the other day so was really bummed to find I have this problem. No doubt many people are visiting my site and if they have norton they are getting these JS Downloader virus warnings per my site and this is probably scaring people away from my site.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about and can someone help me to do what I need to do to fix this mess? This JS issue is both on my computer and is also affecting 1 of my 2 wordpress sites.

    Help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks, Leland
