    Hey Eelco,

Thanks for your feedback, however our plugin isn’t “Trialware” so I’m slightly confused by your review. The guidelines state:

It’s perfectly fine to attempt to upsell the user on other products and features, but a) not in an annoying manner and b) not by disabling functionality after some time period. Similarly, you cannot “cripple” functionality in the plugin and then ask for payment or provide a code to unlock the functionality. All code hosted by WordPress.org servers must be free and fully-functional. If you want to sell advanced features for a plugin (such as a “pro” version), then you must sell and serve that code from your own site, we will not host it on our servers.

As far as I’m aware we:

    1) Do not attempt to upsell in an annoying manner – we simply have a few static links inside of the free version which advertise the Pro version.
    2) Do not disable any functionality after a certain time period – every feature in the free version is available forever and never disabled.
    3) Do not “cripple” functionality in the plugin – we don’t cripple the functionality of the plugin, as the many hundreds of thousands of active users of this plugin will attest.

The free version of the plugin was designed and built to be a simple plugin which displays the text updates from your Facebook page or group. We have since added more and more features to the free version and then also released a Pro version which contains even more additional features – which is in line with the WordPress plugin guidelines:

If you want to sell advanced features for a plugin (such as a “pro” version), then you must sell and serve that code from your own site, we will not host it on our servers.

I don’t think it’s appropriate to give a plugin a 1-star review based on your interpretation of the plugin guidelines. If you believe the plugin is in violation of the guidelines then why not contact us first and discuss it with us? Or you could ask a moderator to take a look and if they see any issues then we will gladly make any changes that are necessary.

I don’t see any violations in the plugin. If you have something specific, please contact us at plugins@wordpress.org and explain exactly what you think is in violation.

They have not crippled the plugin. It’s not as pretty as the pro one, but that’s their call.
