Any way to prevent WC from adding categories/tags classes to index pages?
-
I’m having an issue with huge WooCommerce websites, when the marketing team performs aggressive SEO optimizations and with plenty of categories and tags assigned to lots of products, and this is combined with pages showing 24+ products per page, and all this combined with megamenus, all this make the site to underperform and browse very slowly on low speed connections. I’ve also detected that cutting the output of categories/tags classes from WooCommerce the weight of every page is reduced in almost 700 KB and by skipping the retrieval of category/tags data, the site load speed went down from 12 seconds to almost 3. THREE! 🙂
But I don’t want to touch WooCommerce files to avoid having to redo the changes on every update. That’s why I want to ask if there is any filter/action/hook/plugin/whatever, that may allow to prevent WooCommerce from inserting classes with categories/tags references in every product shown in the store. Doing this programatically would be very helpful, but I haven’t found any solution on Google or Woo docs regarding this.
Any idea please?
