I just started playing with a newly released Themes Directory offer (Caos) and the developer recommends installing this plugin.

Also, I recently read this WP-Tavern post: http://wptavern.com/wp-rest-api-delayed-contributors-facing-gridlock, and became somewhat wary.

I don’t quite understand the differences between:

    1. The “Infrastructure” that the current version of the WordPress Core contains.

    2. Which “Endpoints” are currently contained in the current version of this plugin.

    3. Which “Future Endpoints” will eventually be integrated into the Core.

Should I worry about code remnant conflicts if I install this plugin for the Caos Theme, and then later decide I want to switch themes and uninstall it. I apologize if this seems like a dumb question, but it has occasionally happened to me in the past while using other plugins which I couldn’t completely get rid of.

You shouldn’t need to. When this plugin is eventually incorporated into WordPress core, it will work seamlessly with existing installs of the plugin.
