So, calendar plugin recently got updated. Gotta’ stay current, right?

But now, whenever I save an event draft it seems to default the “cost” to the “free” radio button. Used to have a check box or something you’d check if it was a free event, and that had to be an active change.

Even when I change the radio button to “External ticket URL,” [which isn’t really the opposite of “Free,” so I don’t know whose brilliant idea it was to change this section of the plugin?], after I “save draft,” when I go back to Event Cost / Tickets, the radio button is again defaulted to “Free” rather than “External Tickets URL.”

How do we resolve this?? And/or change it back to he way it was before this dumb change?

Ideally, “free” vs. “paid” would be a separate radio button or section from “External Tickets URL.”

So, the first section would be “free”/”paid.” If free, take away “cost” box, if paid, show cost box.

Below that, have a check box for “External Tickets URLS,” if unchecked, nothing, if checked then show box for inputting external URL for tickets.

There can be “free” events with external ticketing URLS, and “paid” events without external ticketing URLs…

Can we please get this fixed, pronto? Or at least revert to however it was handled before?

Okay, at least on the plus side, it’s maybe only a display issue after save?

I “saved” my event and then “previewed” it. On the preview, it clearly still shows the “cost” text and doesn’t actively say “free”. And, clearly, that text is saved in the system, as it also re-shows up when the “External Tickets URL” radio button gets checked. Interestingly {?}, if you click over to the Event Cost / Tickets section, and it says “Free” and you click “Save Draft,” then preview, it still shows the “Cost” info and doesn’t indicate “Free.” Perhaps even stranger, if you click over to “External Ticket URL” and then back to “Free,” and then preview, it *still* doesn’t list as free. Not sure why. Maybe you’d have to completely delete all text from the “external Tickets URL” options’s “cost” text box before it’ll switch back to displaying “Free”? Dunno…

Anyway, if nothing else, it seems like maybe when you save and then click back to the “event cost / tickets” section of the plugin, it’s not checking which radio button was saved previously and ensuring that that radio button is the one displayed when the section is next clicked onto after a ‘save’? If that makes sense?

And, personally, I’d rather have the default be the one that allows you to enter a “cost” and have the “free” option be an active click. So, maybe reverse the order and make the cost-y option default? Or somewhere offer an option to set a “default” value for that radio button selection, if the majority of events are, in fact “paid” or arein fact “free”?

Though, even with “free” events, often I still want to input info to the effect of “registration required,” so most of the time, I still use the cost-y option and simply type in “FREE. (Registration required).”

I suppose, if there’s a free option, it might be good if there were also a check-box or drop-down for “registration required/not required.” (Some events may be “drop-in” whereas others may be by reservation due to limited # of seats, etc.)

I am experiencing this error as well. I reverted to 2.3.4, the last known version to work, and this is STILL happening, so I’m really not sure what the fix is. Please advise ASAP.

    Good to hear. Thanks! 🙂

Any chance the minor improvements mentioned above might also be made, if not already?

That is, disentangling “Free”/”Paid” events from “on-site”/”off-site” ticketing? The metaphors seemed to be erroneously mixed…

One can have “free events” with off-site ticketing, or paid events with on-website ticketing (or no ticketing).

Seems to me that these options should not be entangled. They should be separate sections within the cost / ticketing page.

That is, one radio button for “free”/”paid” (“paid” as default? Or option to set a default somewhere in settings) and one radio button for on-site ticketing (or no ticketing) vs. off-site ticketing.

If we could get these disentangled, that’d be nice.

Though, even with “free” events, it might be nice to still have the option of specifying “registration required,” possibly with some details, if there are limited seats, as is often the case for small trainings, dinners, etc. So, maybe 3 radio buttons Free/Paid, registration required/not required, ticketing none/on-website/off-website (or does AI1EC offer ticketing options; can’t recall if there’s a plugin for that)?
