Most Recent Post and Excerpt in Header space

    I’ve been manipulating the the Cutline 3-Column Split theme, and to my hard work, I have a large white space next to my site logo.

    I want to put the Most Recent Post in a box right there, and I’ve tried to go over the Multiple loops codex and sites to add a ‘Featured posts’ section.

    I’m stuck – can you help?
