Help with simple shortcode php snippet

Hi, setting up a new site. I’m using the “Karma” theme and trying to allow the use of shortcodes in the blog excerpts on the blog page. (http://bestmobilewebsitedesigner.com/sanford-design-com/blog/)

Used the following in the functions file but it doesn’t work.

‘// Allow Shortcodes in the Excerpt field
add_filter(‘the_excerpt’, ‘do_shortcode’);’

Contacted the theme developer and supposedly it would require extensive customization beyond their current scope of support. 🙂 lol

Can anyone help me with this please?
