This is a brilliant and time saving plugin which I am using successfully with Twenty Twelve.

On another site with the same theme – http://www.wimbledonvisitor.com, where I have not yet downloaded the plugin, I have styles.css and header.php in my child theme which I added the old fashioned way via ftp.

If I download and activate this plugin on my other site, will it affect the already present child styles.css and header.php files? My thinking is that it won’t, as long as I don’t ask the configurator to add those parent files to the child – but I want to be sure.

I presume that if I first make a copy of the current child styles.css and header.php, and import from the parent theme with the newly installed configurator, this will overwrite the current ones and all I would need to do is to copy my saved customisations back to styles.css and header.php and all would be well? Thank you in advance.

    ukandrzej,

All you need to do us select the existing child theme from the Parent/Child tab.

CTC will automatically parse your existing child theme styles into the configurator. It is always a good idea to make a backup first in case you need to make adjustments.

You can leave the header file the way it is. CTC will not touch template files that already exist in the child theme directory.
